Chief Administrative Officer

Summary of position

The position of CAO reports directly to the Rural Community Council and is responsible for carrying out the strategic direction set by Council by overseeing the development and execution of the local government's short- and long-term vision and plans by ensuring multi-stakeholder decision-making and sound management of daily activities. This is a strategic position for a professional who will personify the values of local government and lead by example to create and sustain an organizational culture where everyone is safe, valued, and respected.

Job requirements

A degree in the field of business administration or commerce would be preferable, or a university degree or college deemed equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years of management experience. Strong consideration will be given to candidates having already worked in a community driven role. The person will also need to have the following skills:

· Demonstrate leadership and be action and results oriented

· Strong Management and organizational skills

· Work well in a team

· Clear written and verbal communication skills

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

· Ability to manage significant changes aimed at a positive and productive work culture while demonstrating transparency and integrity.

· Must have a good analytical mind.

· Must be able to establish and maintain a network of contacts.

· Must have a good knowledge of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook.

· Preference will be given to candidates that are fluent in spoken and written French and English.
