NURSING & HEALTH SCIENCES

The Department of Nursing & Health Sciences at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus is part of the Faculty of Science, Applied Science, and Engineering. The Department offers four-year degrees in nursing, allied health programs, along with a bridging program for licensed practical nurses to Bachelor of Nursing. The Department has a number of active programs of research, including a trans-Atlantic research program related to long-term care.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the project.

Salary Range: $59,361 - $77,168 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Manager oversees the New Brunswick arm of an Atlantic Canada study focusing on long-term care staff. This position works collaboratively with managers in the Atlantic Provinces.

  • Develop protocols for study (recruitment, data collection, analysis).
  • Develop subgrants to compensate participating Nursing Homes.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procures related to the study.
  • Conduct unit reconciliation for participating homes.
  • Submit Research Ethics Applications & secure all necessary approvals.
  • Liaise with custodians of interRAI data to request and transfer interRAI data from participating homes.
  • Implement and execute a knowledge transfer plan.
  • Assist with hiring of field coordinators and Research Assistants.
  • Develop and provide orientation for Research Assistants.
  • Oversee team progress to meet goals.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of Research Assistants.
  • Provide ongoing support to Research Assistants.
  • Organize and lead team meetings.
  • Oversee site logistics, agreements, and payments.
  • Manage data collection implementation (scheduling, tracking).

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Up to 5 years progressively responsible experience in managerial roles, with knowledge of the research process, health care environments, and large data sets.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Verbal and written proficiency in both French and English is an asset.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to design interview questions and surveys, recruit participants, administer surveys, conduct interviews, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, succinctly summarize results, and communicate findings.
  • Strong project management skills, excellent organizational skills, time management skills to meet deadlines and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with online communication platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.) and proficient using survey and research software.
  • Knowledge of long-term care and human resource management.
