Job Description:

Global Operations and Business Services provide critical infrastructure services that support and/or control the trading, investment, and corporate banking functions of TD Securities. Payments & Innovation Delivery Excellence (PIDE) is a rapidly evolving and dynamic place to work for highly motivated professionals looking to make an impact. We are looking for individuals who will help us shape the Future of Payments and continue to build TD's presence and influence within the industry as a whole. We are responsible for the delivery of large enterprise and industry's Payment Modernization Programs including regulatory, cyber security, Wire Payment product, SWIFT, Correspondent Banking Services related projects for TD global regions. Our projects delivery ensures sound technology infrastructure that supports over $5 Trillion worth of payments daily and process approximately 6 million transactions annually.

Position Overview:

This role is for a key subject matter expert with substantial knowledge in a complex field and expertise in payment product domains. The candidate will support specialized product development and Agile/Scrum processes while integrating knowledge across multiple functions or operations.

The role involves interpreting business challenges, recommending improvements, leading cross-functional projects, and developing new solutions. Effective communication, stakeholder management, and alignment with senior management are essential.

Depth & Scope:

A) Modern Way of Working:

  • Employ Agile, Product Owner mindset, Shift Left testing methodologies and best practices utilizing collaborative tools like Jira, JTMF, and Confluence to ensure projects progress in the right direction.
  • Lead and integrate cross-functional understanding of Products, defining Product Vision, Product Roadmaps, business goals, business and technology capability maps.
  • Create end-to-end traceability from business goals to business rules and features, epics, user stories, and test cases.
  • Keep current on emerging trends, tools, and techniques to improve product development and delivery, including best practices from Design Thinking and Lean Startup methodologies.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop productive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, actively seeking ways to enhance capability and performance efficiency.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the business area and the bank.

B) Payment Product Domain Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of SWIFT messages, ISO20022, MX and MT formats.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting such as EFTR Fintrac, sanction screening, fraud detection, anti-money laundering (AML), compliance reporting.
  • Knowledge of non-wire payment methods like drafts and checks.
  • Understanding of payment systems such as Canada Lynx, US CHIPS, and FedWire.
  • Experience in payment data, canonical models, and payment data mapping.

C) Leadership Skills:

  • Understand project timelines and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with related partners and resources (onshore and offshore).
  • Employ critical thinking and conflict resolution skills to solve complex problems.
  • Manage expectations and collaborates with all teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Communicate complex concepts effectively, converting information into compelling business contexts.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with senior management and executives.
  • Manage business stakeholders and monitor the regulatory environment.
  • Empowered to make product delivery decisions and manage risks.
  • Communicate product changes and backlog priorities effectively.
  • Compile and share performance metrics with relevant stakeholders.
  • Recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Solve complex problems and develop new solutions with sophisticated analytical thought.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and guide others within the area of expertise.
  • Develop business cases for new product initiatives and explore new product capabilities.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • 7+ years relevant experience.
  • 3+ years in Project Management, Product Owner, Testing Practices, and/or Agile delivery experience.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Agile Certified Practitioner, or Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) are assets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Office and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, exercising sound judgment.
  • Skilled in data analysis and capable of thriving in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated storytelling skills and documentation skills.
