Reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure, the Systems Administrator is responsible for the provision of administrative and technical support related to research, planning, implementation, trouble-shooting and day-to-day operation of the NSLC's IT infrastructure. They establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with outside vendors, IT Project Teams and other IT department support staff to deliver consistent support and enhancement to corporate IT environments. The Systems Administrator establishes procedures to ensure that IT changes meet business needs and are of a high quality, works effectively with the Manager - IT Infrastructure to effect change in a controlled technical environment, and is a well-rounded professional, a technically adept team-player, with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, good communication and customer service skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains & supports all IT infrastructure which includes: servers and storage, virtualization, databases, backup, replication, datacenter technologies, cloud solutions, telephone and disaster recovery systems
- Works closely with Manager-IT Infrastructure, Manager-IT Application Support, and third-party vendors to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions, improve existing infrastructure capabilities and review and provide recommendations on new technologies
- Run diagnostics, troubleshoot and test hardware, operating system and customized software
- Analyze and repair Windows and Linux O/S issues
- Maintain effective operating conditions of equipment, including regular back-ups and patching of systems
- Run regularly, a suite of administrative applications to meet contractual service levels.
- Generate application output for management review.
- Conduct hardware preventative maintenance.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call support rotation as required.

- Understands key business processes and corporate plans and recommends improvements to the information technology environment to keep pace with industry standard practices and business objectives;
- Provides input to the planning, design, and implementation of the technical architecture plans.
- Provide guidance to internal infrastructure projects and other IT support staff.
- Contribute to, and execute as needed, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Maintain installation, configuration and design documentation for all infrastructure, software and operating system environments.

As a qualified candidate you will have:
- A university degree or diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent
- 5-7 years' relevant experience
As an ideal candidate you will have:
- Certifications in Microsoft, VMWare, Fortinet, Dell
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
