Heavy Equipment Operators - Seasonal
2024/25 Winter Snow Clearing
The Town of Torbay is currently searching for Heavy Equipment Operators to work in its Infrastructure and Public Works Department. These are seasonal unionized positions for the purposes of snow clearing operations. These positions will be scheduled for a minimum of 40 hours per week during the winter season as determined by the Town of Torbay.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- The operation of heavy equipment for snow clearing operations.
- The performing of light maintenance work on the Town's equipment.
- Performing a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance and repairs of the Town's roads.
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Infrastructure and Public Works, Director of Infrastructure and Public Works or the Chief Administrative Officer.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- Completion of a provincially registered apprentice heavy equipment operator training program.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a heavy equipment operator.
- Class 03 driver's license with class 05, 08, and 09/09A endorsements.
- Completion of the following training courses: Powerline Hazzard, Trenching & Excavating and WHMIS.
- Criminal Records Screening Certificate issued by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Rate of Pay: As per the collective agreement.
