JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Regional Gynecologic Oncology Division Head and the Medical Director for the area, the gynecologic oncologist focuses on the study and treatment of gynecological cancer. The gynecologic oncologist practises in various clinical contexts to provide a wide range of medical care to patients having received a confirmed or suspected gynecological cancer diagnosis. He provides individualized care and support to adult patients and their loved ones throughout their disease trajectory. The gynecological cancer continuum includes health promotion, prevention measures, screening, initial assessment and diagnosis of gynecological cancer, medical and surgical treatments, survival and follow-up as well as supportive, palliative and end-of-life care. He works on interdisciplinary teams to develop an evidence-based multimodal therapeutic approach. He also works with other health professionals to deliver diversified and comprehensive care to gynecological cancer patients and their loved ones.

The gynecologic oncologist takes an active part in teaching activities in their department, in close collaboration with the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau?Brunswick.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree from a recognized medical school, residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship granting a licence in Gynecologic Oncology.
  • A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criterium:
    • Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States); OR
  • Recognized certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
  • Recognized certification in Gynecologic Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
  • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
  • Membership with the New Brunswick Medical Society;
  • Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
  • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
  • One to three years' experience will be considered an asset;
  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered;
