Description:
The City of Fredericton is seeking applications for employees specializing in facility operation and maintenance. Reporting to the Parks and Trees Division, the incumbent is responsible to perform sports field maintenance, delivery of special event resources. The successful applicant will utilize their acquired skills and previous work experience to conduct quality work. Additional training will be provided depending on work placement. Work on a scheduled shift basis involving daytime, evening, weekend, and holidays is a requirement throughout the year. Incumbent will be required to apply skills in facility operations, general maintenance, equipment operation as required.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of secondary education (Grade 12) education or equivalent.
- Experience in outdoor turf maintenance would be considered an asset.
Position Specifications:
- Perform sports field maintenance including infield grooming and lining.
- Performing turf field maintenance; grooming, artificial turf maintenance.
- Playground maintenance.
- Garbage collection and site cleanliness.
- Graffiti removal.
- Responsible for opening and closing of facilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and shifts on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge and Desired Skills:
- Ability to work on a team.
- Valid Class V NB driver's license.
- Class III Licence and/or E endorsement considered an asset.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, methods and materials.
- Knowledge of sports field, facility maintenance.
