Responsibilities:

  • Manage workforce for preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with Eastlink’s Wireless Operation Standards, to maximize network availability and quality and achieve other performance metrics.
  • Co-develop all departmental processes.
  • Perform planning and scheduling of commissioning of new sites according to the implementation schedule.
  • Test new wireless cellular products/technology in collaboration with the Access Engineering team.
  • Coordinate Field RF measurements and Data collection in support of the Radio Network Optimization Process.
  • Audit site acceptance for the wireless cellular access network.
  • Provide feedback and issue deficiencies to the Construction team and follow up on execution.
  • Provide feedback to planning and engineering teams on operational issues as part of a continuous improvement process.
  • Maintain equipment firmware and configurations of Test equipment.
  • Manage repair and return, warranties, equipment calibration and other operational issues.
  • Participate and plan OH&S meetings and training requirements

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout Maritimes as required.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and driver’s abstract will be requested.
  • Electrical/Electronics Degree and/or Technologist Diploma and 5+ Years experience in related field.
  • Managing a technical workforce including 24/7 outage response.
  • Certificate courses: OHS, Working at Heights
  • RAN equipment 3rd party vendor provided courses considered.
  • People skills and management, interpersonal skills

Technical 5+ years

  • Strong MS Office Suite experience, Power BI an asset.
  • Adobe PDF document creation.
  • Technical document writing.
  • Understanding of AC electrical circuits.
  • Foundational knowledge of IP networking.
  • IP transport over microwave.
  • RF Theory and Antennas.
  • Understanding of wireless cellular telecom network architecture as well as the potential impact of each Network Element on QoS, as well as wireless (RF) principles & technology.
  • Radio equipment and related accessories (coaxial cables, antennas, repeaters, low noise amplifiers (LNAs), etc.).
  • Basic Radio engineering rules (calculation of radio system noise, RF link budget, etc.)
  • Understanding of cell and channel capacity concepts.
  • Knowledge of FDD and TDD wireless LTE/NR.
  • Experience using a spectrum analyzer and network testing tools
