Research Initiatives and Services (RIS)

(Contractual Position to March 31, 2025)

Research Initiatives and Services (RIS) is the main office for research funding administration at Memorial and performs pre and post-award administration in a "one-stop shop" approach. RIS also manages the Core Research Equipment and Instrument Training (CREAIT) Network, and coordinates Memorial's internal research award programs. We are looking for an enthusiastic Grants Assistant professional to join the RIS Grants Team!

DUTIES

The Grants Assistant will provide high-level administrative support of research grants from external and internal funding sources. This individual will take direction from multiple staff members, prioritize workloads, provide timely support, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively across the office.

Duties include assisting in the establishment of research grant accounts process such as drafting memos and ensuring the supporting documentation such as budgets and research clearances are in place; assisting with organizing virtual and in-person meetings including preparing and distributing meeting materials via Brightspace or D2L; performing accurate and complete data entry and maintenance in the ROMEO research information system; maintaining related records using Excel spreadsheets; confirming continued eligibility of researchers or grant holders on an annual basis and verifying research clearances for active research grants; liaising with faculty researchers and Grant Facilitators regarding grant information and providing information on post award research grants activity; assisting with meeting proceedings and with meeting minutes as required; assisting as required with the dissemination of research grant opportunities and information on research administrative policies and procedures; recommending options for improving administrative processes; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in a professional administrative role; completion of a two-year program or coursework towards an undergraduate degree in business or administration; or any equivalent combination of business or administrative experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and professional communications skills; ability to multi-task effectively under pressure; be detail-oriented; and work autonomously and as part of a team. Strong computer application skills, including the MS Office Suite and MS Excel, are required. Prior experience in Research Grant Administration, ROMEO or Researcher Portal, Brightspace or D2L and Banner Finance would be considered assets.

SALARY $49,308 - $57,841 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
