The opportunity:

The Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating training to support Efficiency Nova Scotia Partners to enhance quality offerings. This will include training process refinement, training content creation, planning, and hosting relevant training virtual, in-person, and OnDemand training. The specialist must be an effective communicator and presenter, with excellent time management and organizational skills, and they must be adaptable and results-driven.

  • Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with Efficiency Preferred Partner Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, and Green Sector capacity lead to support training strategy.
  • Responsible for research curriculum actively and remaining up to date on developments within the industry and Efficiency Nova Scotia Programs to disseminate information with partners.
  • Responsible for the continued collaboration with education providers to promote and sponsor training courses to support gaps identified in the industry.
  • Responsible for developing a Partner Training Toolbox of OnDemand training courses with ongoing enhancement based on industry needs and building code development.
  • Responsible for developing, executing, and reporting on an education and training plan monthly, quarterly, and annually to support industry development.
  • Responsible for actively seeking out feedback from internal stakeholders and reporting on outcomes of training participation and feedback from participants to further enhance the training portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to develop internal and external communication to proactively distribute within companies, promoting courses and necessary details.
  • Responsible for generating training materials in collaboration with Program Managers, Business Development Managers, Partner Development Specialists, and external training partners.
  • Drive Efficiency Preferred Partner Network growth and participation through a training strategy
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Partnership and Quality Assurance Manager
  • Performing all other duties, as required

What Will Help You Succeed?

  • A University Degree or Diploma in a business-related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Demonstrates integrity, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with learning management systems is an asset.
  • Is an Effective presenter and has public speaking experience
  • Project Management experience would be an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent client service skills (internal partners and customers) including the ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and handle multiple tasks, while working in an environment with tight timelines and high-quality standards.

What to expect in your first several weeks on the job:

In the first week, expect to:

  • Orientation and company information, history, and stakeholder review.
  • Introduction to the Partnership and Quality Assurance team.
  • Read program materials to start introduction to Efficiency Nova Scotia Programs and Efficiency Preferred Partner Network.

In the first month, expect to:

  • Meet our Program Managers and understand in detail the programs and information required to support partners.
  • Continue to learn more about workforce capacity, upskilling, and quality assurance training needs.
  • Start identifying opportunities for improvement and begin training knowledge base portfolio.

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Perform core duties independently.
  • Establish a performance and development plan with your manager.
