SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate provides nursing care guidance based on their specialized knowledge in mental health, psychiatry and addiction for optimal delivery of competent, ethical and safe services within Vitalité Health Network.

The clinical nurse specialist is required to serve as a practitioner, advisor, teacher, researcher and leader. Although the balance between these roles varies depending on the patients' needs, the successful candidate provides ongoing leadership in nursing practice and care planning for patients with complex or particular needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration with the New Brunswick Nurses Association;
  • Master of Science in Nursing with clinical specialization in mental health, addiction services or psychiatric nursing;
  • At least five years' experience in a mental health or addiction services position;
  • Successful completion of nursing certification programs specific to unit within set time frames;
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Demonstrated leadership and administration skills as part of previous jobs;
  • Commitment to ongoing nursing learning, training and professional development;
  • Comprehensive understanding of mental health and addiction services;
  • Strong emphasis on advocating for patients' rights;
  • Previous participation in research;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to the Network's confidentiality rules.
