JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Regional Director of Research and Health Evaluation, the research consultant plays a management and coordination role in the implementation of all clinical research activities within Vitalité Health Network. The consultant supports management, physicians and health care professionals in initiatives and projects that can help them in their decision-making. More specifically, the successful candidate coordinates and develops research activities related to interdisciplinary teams and provides support for the quantitative or qualitative analysis of statistical data. This person brings a rigorous scientific approach to the Network's research projects and manages them. The consultant also participates in developing innovative research initiatives and provides scientific supervision of initiatives related to the learning approach.

The research consultant works to develop processes and policies related to the sector. This person is involved in the ethics submission process for research projects and works closely with the Chair of the Research Ethics Board. The consultant is able to make recommendations to the organization's senior management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate degree in a field related to the position: science, health, management, or another related field;
  • Five to ten years' experience in the health research field within a university setting, research institution or hospital setting;
  • Research-related experience: literature reviews, data collection, scientific writing and publishing, writing of grant applications, knowledge transfer;
  • Experience in statistical analysis (quantitative or qualitative);
  • Project development experience;
  • Project management experience;
  • In-depth understanding of the scientific method and research;
  • Good understanding of research and the major challenges associated with health care systems;
  • Expertise in scientific writing and review;
  • Experience with different analytical methods;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills;
  • Critical-thinking skills;
  • Attention to detail and scientific rigour;
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Tact and discretion;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ingenuity (being proactive);
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) in French and good knowledge of English;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated team spirit, continuous learning and flexibility;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and good time management;
  • Ability to fulfil duties and stay on schedule;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite;
  • Very good knowledge of at least one of the following software programs: SPSS, SAS, R, STATA;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
