In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1: Program Support, Coordination, and Delivery

  • As part of the Roots for Resilience core project team, support the development, planning, and coordination of program activities in Western Newfoundland and Labrador, including identification of supportive tools and materials, as well as coordination of program delivery as well as oversight and coordination of volunteer engagement in consultation with national and geographic CRC teams.
  • Builds and nurtures collaborative relationships, effectively liaising with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, national partners, and CRC teams across provinces/territories to enable the implementation of projects and programming in communities.
  • Carries out day-to-day operational tasks and processes related to scaling up of program activities, ensuring project/program management process and tools are up-to-date and being utilized correctly.
  • Liaise with Indigenous/Non-Indigenous governance structures, community organizations/members, and other agencies and coordinates meetings.
  • Promote personal preparedness education within communities including facilitation of workshops, learning sessions, group engagement, and communication events.

Responsibility 2: Program Administration, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Coordinate administrative processed for the Roots for Resilience program.
  • In collaboration with (Manager) support internal and external monitoring and reporting obligations including file management, project reports, and communication with partners and communities.
  • Support and align with CRC organizational policies and processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of standard processes and procedures.
  • Contributes to monitoring progress of project activities and quality assurance, including the development of internal project monitoring tools.

Responsibility 3: Program Development

  • Supports linkages between Provincial and National program teams with regards to implementation and progress of DRR-CCA programming.
  • Develops strong and effective trust-based working relationships with community partners to support CRC activities related to risk reduction and resilience building.
  • Contributes to the overall growth of the DRR-CCA Service Line, supporting with developing operational strategies, annual planning and reviews.
  • Support continued learning and capacity strengthening of DRR-CCA within the CRC.

What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor's degree in, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Sciences, Community Development, Emergency Management or related discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management is essential.
  • Previous experience in Disaster Risk Reduction or Disaster Risk Management is an asset.
  • Ability to coordinate and foster effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Capacity to simultaneously monitor/manage multiple activities across various locations.
  • Advanced level of self-awareness, maturity and stability in order to work in an effective and professional manner.
  • Shows initiative and ability to adapt and innovate in sometimes challenging circumstances.
  • Experience with volunteer engagement is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Working conditions :

  • The majority of the work is performed in a safe and clean environment, with travel to disaster operations as required.
  • Travel within Canada will be required.
