Roseway Manor is a 66 bed long term care facility located in rural Shelburne, NS. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Dietitian to join our team. As a Dietitian at our facility, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about promoting healthy eating habits and improving overall well being of the residents who reside at Roseway Manor.
Responsibilities:
- Review physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake
- Research new developments in the field of long term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements
- Implement dietary measures with a long term view of maintaining or improving a residents quality of life
- Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care
- Compare effectiveness of dietary plans against residents progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary
- Discuss care plan meetings with the families of residents so that they are included in the necessary programs and active participation in the Pharmacy Committee
- Chart and document all dietary progress notes; including counselling, diet instructions
- Assess the need for other methods of feeding (ex. feeding tube)
- Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements, staff training (ex. feeding with sensitivity)
- Remain abreast of new research by attending dietary workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
- Excellent ability to manage high stress or highly emotional situations
- Sounds judgement and ability to execute decisions efficiently
This position is 50% Permanent.
