Pay rate:$26.00/hr. (+$2.00/hr. premium for nights) & (+$2.00/hr. premium for Weekends)
Shift start:Morning Start, 5:30am or Afternoon start, 1:30pm
Location:Ville Mont-Royal, Qc

Assignment Details:

An in-yard shunter is a specialized professional responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and containers within the work facility. They utilize shunt trucks or yard trucks to maneuver trailers and containers in high traffic areas, ensuring trailers are properly positioned at loading docks for effective transfer of goods. Shunters are experts in yard organization, maintaining order, and optimizing space utilization. They also play a crucial role in communication, coordinating with truck drivers, warehouse personnel, and dispatchers to facilitate the smooth operation of the supply chain. Shunter must operate safely and in accordance with all safety rules and procedures. Shunters will be responsible to always follow the "Big 6", for all trailer moves without fail.

Job Description

  • Trailer Movement:
    •  Safely maneuver and position trailers within the yard, ensuring alignment with loading docks and designated areas.
  • Inspection and Reporting:
    •  Conduct inspections of trailers and yard equipment, reporting any defects or issues to the maintenance team.
  • Coordination:
    •  Work closely with warehouse staff, dispatchers, and other drivers to facilitate smooth and efficient yard operations.
  • Safety Compliance:
    •  Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, to maintain a safe working environment. Must follow the "Big 6" Lazer Spot safety protocols. Jack Stands will be required on trailers. Hi viz and safety boots required.
  • Documentation:
    •  Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, including trailer numbers, placement locations, and times, using yard management systems or manual logs.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    •  Report major issues to the maintenance department.
  • Communication:
    •  Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and management regarding yard activities and any potential issues.

Requirements

  • Valid Class AZ License.
  • 2 years of experience as a AZ driver With Shunting experience.
  • Aptitude for Customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in French & English (Oral and Written)
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. when and if required
  • Criminal Record Check may be required as part of the onboarding process
  • CVOR & Driver's Abstract printed within 30 days
