We are seeking a dedicated Instructor to join our team and share your expertise in electrical work with aspiring students. Position Type: Term

Duration: September 2024 to June 2025 (with a possibility of extension)

Salary Range: $2,454.00 to $3,776.00 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,167.00 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education.

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with and report to the Academic Chair of Electrical and Pipe Trades. As a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Trade-related safety
  • AC/DC theory
  • Wiring, single and three-phase motors,
  • Drives
  • Generators and digital electronics.

The successful incumbent must also be well versed in using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code as it relates to the above areas and be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma or equivalency
  • A valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Construction or Industrial Electrical with a Red Seal Certificate
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson level.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Working Knowledge of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
