Service New Brunswick is seeking individuals to join the Health Services Division in the Supply Chain unit to fill current and future vacancies in these dynamic positions as Purchasing Agents in Fredericton, Moncton or Saint John.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Obtains and maintains familiarity with current relevant legislation, regulations and policies to ensure compliance with the New Brunswick Public Purchasing Act
  • Management and coordination of all day to day procurement operations to ensure that the Horizon Health Network departments receive the necessary goods, services, and equipment for providing direct or indirect care to patients;
  • Negotiates purchase prices, ensures an adequate supply of goods and services, advises clients on new products, and meets with representatives;
  • Obtains and maintains familiarity with current relevant legislation, regulations and policies to ensure compliance with the New Brunswick Public Purchasing Act;
  • Processes purchase orders, including returns and repairs;
  • Negotiates pricing;
  • Quotation requests;
  • Deals with product complaints, handles recalls, and alerts;
  • Follows up on backorders, open orders and working orders;
  • Order confirmation and applicable communication to the client;
  • Reconciles invoice exceptions (pricing and quantity) on purchase orders;
  • Participates on committees as required;
  • Credit card orders and reconciliation;
  • Logistics issues (short ship, wrong product, damage goods, over ship, etc.);
  • Electronic requisition support;
  • Electronic requisition template management: creation of a new template, adding, changing, deleting a product to an existing ordering template; as well as,
  • General inquiries for day to day transactional procurement activity.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a post-secondary diploma from a two (2) year program in Business Administration or a related field
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience as a buyer
  • In-depth knowledge of, and practical work experience in, the use of Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in a health-care environment

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirement(s) is also required:

  • Some travel throughout the province may be required and candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.
