The University of Fredericton is seeking a detail-oriented and entrepreneurial candidate for the role of Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Director of Quality & Regulatory Affairs ensures compliance with educational regulations and accreditation standards. This role is a key participant in the creation of institutional policies, program proposals, and provides input on quality assurance processes to mitigate risks related to compliance and quality. Additionally, the Director acts as a liaison with faculty, administrators, and other university constituents, as well as external stakeholders, The Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Curriculum and Compliance:
- Provides oversight and ensures compliance with all educational regulations and standards set by accrediting bodies both at program and institutional levels.
- Initiates and coordinates review processes for the university, its administrative units, and its programs, maintaining standards and researching opportunities for improvement.
- Identifies and mitigates risks related to compliance and quality.
- Collaborates with the Vice President of Academic and Provost to lead curriculum development committees and continuous improvement of curricula across academic domains, ensuring quality program proposals and successful outcomes.
- In consultation with each of the University's administrative offices, oversees the institutional review of the University as well as all new program proposals, ensuring successful expansion of the operations and compliance with all necessary regulations.
Policies and Procedures:
- Coordinates quality assurance policies and procedures across both academic and administrative functions to foster academic quality across all programs.
- Interprets and revises academic policies and procedures as necessary.
Other Responsibilities:
- Oversees all student course evaluations and the respective improvement measures, establishing a data-driven and process-based quality assurance system.
Aligns with Provost, Deans and Program Chairs to oversee the overall quality management of academic programs and provide guidance and mentorship.
Actively participates in university governance as an ex-officio member of the Academic Council.
- A Master's degree or equivalent is required, and a PhD or other terminal degree is considered an asset, ideally enhancing expertise and leadership within the Canadian higher education market.
- Extensive experience as a senior leader, ideally at the Dean or VP level, within a complex academic or research institution. Experience at an institution that has an online presence is considered an asset.
- Significant direct engagement in the approval/accreditation process (academic, institutional, provincial, state, or regional).
- Experience in academic policy and procedure.
- Leadership roles that demonstrate the ability to manage teams and projects.
- Excellent risk management skills, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people. These skills must enable the person to maintain professionalism and sound judgment during difficult conversations.

Hours of Work
This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
