Highlights of What You'll Do

Reporting to the Group Controller, you will maintain financial records, perform various accounting tasks, and support the financial reporting process. You will also assist with our finance operations in Japan, Korea, and/or Southeast Asia. A typical day will involve:

Cross-Cultural Accounting:

• Utilize knowledge of accounting practices in China, Japan, Korea, and/or, Southeast Asia to support international financial operations
• Navigate and comply with regional accounting regulations and tax laws

Financial Record Maintenance:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording all financial transactions in the general ledger

Accounts Receivable & Payable:

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice processing, payment processing, and reconciliations

Bank Reconciliations:

• Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded

Financial Reporting:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements as well as income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing financial data and analysis as needed

Month-End Close, Year-End Reconciliation & Audit:

• Assist in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts and generating financial reports
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and support as required

Compliance & Taxation:

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
• Assist in preparations of provincial (PST), federal (GST & T2), and special tax returns; assist in international taxation requirements as required

Analysis & Reporting Packs:

• Assist in the preparation of regular internal reports for executive review

Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Promote teamwork and collaboration with teams around the globe to gather financial data and insights, and to maximize organizational efficiency

What You'll Bring Along

Must-Haves:

• 1-3 years of generalist experience in accounting roles across a variety of accounting functions
• Familiarity with accounting practices in Japan, Korea, and/or Southeast Asia (specifically, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and/or Thailand)
• Hands-on knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• General ledger accounting experience
• Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations, including tax laws
• Outstanding financial analysis skills
• Proficient with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook, PPT)
• Strong attention to detail, coupled with high standards
• Analytical; a skilled problem-solver
• Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently, verbally and in writing; exceptional communication skills virtually and in person
• Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field

Nice-to-Haves:

• Fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, and/or Korean is an asset

What We'll Give You

• Salary: $50,000-$60,000 per year
