We are thrilled to partner with PAL in their search for a Controller to play a key role within the company and contribute to their continued growth and success. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting process, ensuring compliance, and maintaining the integrity of financial controls. Your strategic vision will guide the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. You will work closely with the executive team to identify opportunities for process improvement, resolve accounting issues, and ensure compliance with new accounting pronouncements.

In this pivotal role, within the airlines division, you will liaise with the operational finance team to communicate financial performance, support financial decisions, and understand day-to-day business and operational changes. You will coordinate annual year-end audits, oversee tax deliverables and remittances, and ensure contractual invoices are compliant with contract terms. Additionally, you will mentor and lead your team, ensuring the delivery of divisional objectives and fostering an environment of growth and excellence.

What You Will Do:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial controls.
  • Resolve accounting issues and ensure compliance with new accounting pronouncements.
  • Coordinate annual year-end audits and ensure effective communication with auditors.

Operational Support and Liaison:

  • Communicate financial performance and support financial decisions in collaboration with the operational finance team.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly tax deliverables and remittances.

Contract Compliance and Financial Oversight:

  • Ensure contractual invoices comply with contract terms.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight of divisional deliverables.

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in a progressive environment, with at least three of those in a leadership position.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or a related field, along with a CPA designation.
  • A strategic mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative spirit.
  • Proven track record of successful stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, providing constructive feedback, and proactively managing performance.
