Department Overview:

The Investor Relations (IR) team delivers effective communication of TD's strategic direction, financial performance and growth story to the investment community, including sell-side analysts, buy-side investors and credit rating agencies. A key part of Enterprise Finance, IR works closely with internal partners, including Enterprise Decision Support, Corporate and Public Affairs, ESG teams, Legal, Risk and various business units to deliver transparent and well-articulated messaging related to TD's financial and strategic position to the investment community and rating agencies.

This role will provide an outstanding opportunity to learn and communicate the strategic direction and financial performance of the bank overall and each business segment to both internal and external audiences. As an integral member of the IR team, this position will support all activities and initiatives of the group to support a successful IR program at TD Bank Group.

Job Description/Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Head of Investor Relations, the incumbent will leverage their experience to:

  • Oversee the development and execution of the Bank's IR marketing program across all external constituencies (equity/fixed income investors, sell-side analysts, ESG stewardship teams and credit rating agencies)
  • Develop strong relationships with IR's equity and fixed income investors, and ESG / stewardship specialists across IR's external stakeholder base, to enhance their understanding of TD's business and ESG strategy and financial performance and communicate insights from the Street back to senior management as appropriate
  • Support SET / EVPs / Directors in their interactions with the investment community, and act as a spokesperson for the Bank on both financial and ESG matters in analyst/investor/rating agency meetings
  • Develop briefing and messaging materials for members of the senior executive team, share market feedback with management to help shape strategic decisions, and collaborate with internal partners on enterprise-wide communications relevant to the bank's investor base, including further developing TD's strategic, business and ESG narratives
  • Research and analyze relevant business issues to facilitate the development of internal and external presentations and provide timely responses to inquiries from analysts and investors
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of quarterly results reporting, investor conferences, investor days, and other investment community events
  • Support Treasury and Balance Sheet Management's Funding Team and TD Securities in advancing the objectives of the Fixed Income IR Program

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

  • B.A. in business, economics or a related field with high numeracy content would be an asset
  • C.A. and/or CFA designations would be an asset
  • Buy-side/sell-side experience would be an asset

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong presentation skills (formal presentation and ad hoc/Q&A)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of core Finance concepts (accounting, capital, treasury, tax) and ESG concepts
  • Ability to translate financial information and concepts into succinct and compelling messaging
  • Track record of dealing with senior executives / sophisticated clients
  • Maturity, presence and collaborative approach in dealing with a variety of stakeholders
  • Comfort managing multiple tasks and working to meet tight timelines
  • Flexibility with travel
