Who you are

You have a worked a minimum of 1-3 years in human resources, attendance management, disability management, or a related discipline. You have experience working in a unionized environment, preferably in a healthcare setting, with the ability to interpret multiple collective agreements, apply human resources best practices and human rights legislation.

You are a post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate and 1-3 years experience in human resources management, disability management, business administration or a related discipline.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Attendance and Disability Support, the successful candidate will be responsible for applying the attendance support program within their local area by promoting the importance of regular and consistent attendance; assisting employees in championing their own health and wellness; assisting managers to resolve employee attendance barriers in a positive and supportive manner while helping to address excessive absenteeism and minimize related costs.

  • able to exercise considerable independent judgement, tact, discretion, and confidentiality while preparing, disclosing, and handling sensitive confidential information and attending meetings.

  • creative and take initiative to suggest improvements and encourage positive attendance results.

  • able to develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders, including front-line employees, management, and union stakeholders.
  • skilled with the Microsoft Office 365 suite; Parklane software usage an asset.
  • able to travel throughout the organization as required.

Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.

What you will do

As a valuable member of our team, you will:

  • facilitate the consistent application of the Attendance Support Program amongst stakeholders and enrolling employees into the program.
  • ensure documentation requirements are met.
  • provide guidance and insight to stakeholders in identifying root causes of attendance barriers and promote best practices to achieve attendance goals.
  • provide consultation, training, and advice to management, human resource advisors, and disability coordinators in applying the supportive principles of the Attendance Support Program.
  • assist managers in interpreting their departmental absenteeism data and identifying patterns/trends to determine appropriate action plans.
  • monitor and analyze attendance metrics and provide reports as required.
  • collaborate with human resource advisors and disability support coordinators regarding absenteeism patterns/trends to identify predominant causes and engage their expertise/intervention when required.
  • collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to explore solutions that will optimize employee attendance.
  • apply existing policies and procedures to meet the evolving needs of employees and the organization to maintain compliance with emerging changes to legislation.
  • build and maintain a database of local support resources, including the employer's Employee and Family Assistance Program, to offer appropriate assistance to employees and customize their support experience.
  • be committed to continuous learning, especially HR trends and case law reviews.
