Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Rate of Pay: $20/hour
Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Location: Mississauga, Ontario - Dixie and Courtney Park
Job Type: Ongoing Temporary
We are hiring for an experienced Accounting Clerk. This is long-term temporary to permanent hire opportunity with a fast-paced company that offers HR and accounting solutions. We are looking for an individual with 2-3 years of experience in a similar long-term accounting role, with strong computer, calculation and customer service skills. We are looking for candidates who can interview and start immediately.
Responsibilities:
· Report to and communicate with the Accounting Manager regarding collection goals and performance levels
· Receive and fill out payments to third parties via cash, cheque, credit, etc.
· Post and reconcile customer payments to general ledgers
· Post A/P data to profit/loss reports, balance sheets, income statements, etc.
· Balance daily A/R batches; prepare and distribute payment reports and statistics
· Calculate, prepare and issue bills, invoices and account statements
· Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions
· Review all credit balances, refund and adjustments; apply any adjustments or corrections
· Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements
· Compile data for profit and loss statements
· Monitor profit margins based on revenue and expense data
· Double check journal entries to ensure accuracy, noting and correcting errors
· Audit accounts to ensure timely payments
· Respond to customer inquiries demonstrating excellent customer service skills
· Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records
· Other general administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· 2-3 years of experience working in similar accounting role required
· Post-secondary education in accounting required; CPA or CGA as an asset
· Experience using various internal management and accounting software
· Experience handling confidential information
· Strong customer service and communication skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Demonstrates logical thinking and strong problem solving skills
· Willing to learn, adaptive and receptive to feedback
· Strong computer skills and good with numbers
· MUST be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at once
