Summary

The Senior Portfolio Manager reports directly to the Director of Digital Program delivery and serves as the primary overseer of program coordination within the product roadmap. This role entails planning, and monitoring all programs, with the key responsibility of providing regular status updates and reports to ensure effective communication, heightened visibility, and enhanced collaboration among stakeholders.

To guarantee the effective delivery and management of the entire program, the Senior Portfolio Manager assumes responsibility for overseeing activities that ensure success, including collaborating with the Agile Release Trains, to establish and maintain agile project management methodologies and best practices through training initiatives and coaching. Additionally, close collaboration with the finance team is required to develop comprehensive business cases that are in line with the product roadmap.

Further responsibilities include the comprehensive management of all contracts pertaining to the digital product portfolio, encompassing activities such as contract planning, review, negotiation, and renewal.

Other duties entail overseeing internal audits as the primary point of contact, managing audit-related activities, remediation, and stakeholder reporting.

The Senior Program Manager will closely engage with product, finance, and engineering teams, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure alignment with the principles of the Scaled Agile Framework, customer objectives, and overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, partners, internal development team, and third-party in multiple areas to meet enterprise needs and define priorities aligned with business goals
  • Work closely with Product Management to define the portfolio vision and scope, including the development of metrics for evaluating and prioritizing the projects
  • Work with the Agile Release Train to manage the portfolio governance by managing and controlling the portfolio performance, using tools such as dashboards, reports, and reviews
  • Track and measure progress, outcomes, benefits, and risks of each project and the portfolio as a whole
  • Align the portfolio with the strategy and stakeholders by building business cases to ensure that the portfolio supports and contributes to the organization's strategic goals and priorities
  • Regular communication to stakeholders and the Executive team of the portfolio performance
  • Optimize the resources and value
  • Develop the portfolio capabilities and enhance the maturity by applying best practices, standards and frameworks using methods such as training, coaching, mentoring and auditing to achieve this
  • Manage the product portfolio contracts from planning, reviews, negotiations and renewals
  • Support the contract management activities for all Request for Proposal's (RFP's)
  • Be the single point of contact for internal audits
  • Additional organizational responsibilities include preparing presentations for Town Hall meetings
  • Lead team of product owner(s) to support the portfolio deliverables
  • Work closely with cross functional teams including product, content, engineering teams, and other stakeholders with an interest in the program/portfolio
Critical Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience with agile project / product management and ability to be an effective product owner
  • Experience with contract management
  • Jira, Confluence, Kanban, MIRO, Excel and PowerPoint experience
  • Ability to translate organizational vision into a product vision
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial drive with a passion for product excellence and partner success
  • Ability to work autonomously with full ownership of deliverables and excellent attention to detail
  • Effective planning, prioritising and organisational skills
  • A team player with the confidence to challenge & escalate when necessary
  • Experience working with product management, engineering, and external parties to design and develop technology solutions
  • Proven problem solving ability with complex, technical and abstract concepts
  • Scaled Agile experience is a plus
  • Media experience is a plus
