In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1. Supports all aspects of Human Resource Management to ensure the successful achievement of operational priorities.

  • Ensures consistent and standardized human resources management.
  • Provides leadership and direction to staff to ensure that effective delivery of services and excellent customer service is maintained.
  • Integrates volunteers into local operations and supports the development and implementation of volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Responds to internal office staff performance concerns in a timely manner through investigation and follows-up, as required, with an appropriate Senior Leader or Human Resources Representative.

Responsibility 2. Supports the development and oversees the implementation of the Geography's Operational plans, in alignment with the organization's strategic priorities.

  • Analyzes and interprets operational and organizational goals and strategies.
  • Acts and implements strategies and policies in accordance with the CRC's priorities, whilst making explicit consideration of potential risks.
  • Applies a broad business understanding to improve the performance and processes of the business unit/ practice/ function.
  • Integrates and leverages knowledge of local trends/ environment when shaping the business in a way consistent with the organization's vision.

Responsibility 3. Manages the operational budget to support the achievement of the organization's operational goals, and the required infrastructure.

  • Assists with the development of the operational budget and guidelines.
  • Manages operations within budget allocations and implements the annual operating, marketing and project plans.
  • Assists with the negotiation with Ministry of Health officials on Central Agency Charges and/or share of MOH funding.
  • Monitors budgets and identifies/projects any variances to budget; develops recommendations for the Field to improve net revenue increases (i.e. Reduction in overall net expenses).

Responsibility 4. Develops the local relationships required to ensure CRC programming remains relevant and effective.

  • Participates on relevant (internal and external) committees and networks, demonstrating sector leadership when appropriate (i.e., community advisory committees/boards, collaborative networks, workshops, job/health fairs, provider meetings).
  • Develops service delivery partnership agreements and forwards them to senior staff for review.
  • Establishes and maintains agency relations with referral and interfacing agencies to advocate on behalf of Red Cross, the client base, address system design, customer service support and inter-agency service coordination.

Responsibility 5. Identifies and supports business development opportunities and innovation in alignment with the strategic direction of the organization.

  • Identifies trends and makes linkages about business issues and opportunities that would impact long term objectives and strategies.
  • Maintains awareness of changes to related legislation and communicate with key program leads and Senior Leadership Team, as appropriate.

Responsibility 6. Ensures quality service standards, in line with Quality & Risk Standard Operating Procedures, Incident Reporting and Procedures.

  • Ensures compliance with Quality Management practices, policies, and directions.
  • Oversees development of quality monitoring tools, including benchmarking and process maps (workflows) for each program.
  • Conducts audits to monitor adherence to policies and legislation and/or reviews service audits and administrative procedures to make improvement recommendations.

What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant business or related discipline, or a combination of education and management experience that would be consider equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years' experience within a Not-for-Profit program/department or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience leading cross team projects and proven success in achieving change.
  • Experience (either as employee, delegate or as a senior volunteer) with a national, service-based, non-profit organization is an asset.
  • Demonstrated competency leading and working collaboratively with teams.
  • Experience and understanding of CRC disaster response is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the community health care industry is an asset.
  • Professionalism, credibility, and exceptional interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and establish and manage productive internal and external relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Computer and numerical literacy, comfort working with databases, metrics and applicant tracking systems.
  • Fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English is essential; fluency in French is highly desirable.

Working conditions :

  • Much of the work is performed in an environment which is clean and professional.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, and carry a cellular phone.
  • Ability to travel between CRC offices to organize/attend meetings.
