Full time permanent and term Educational Psychologist positions. Duties to commence September 3, 2024.

As an Educational Psychologist, you will be a part of school-based service delivery teams, responsible for the development, and support the implementation of interventions that promote the holistic development of students.

Reporting to the Director of Student Services or designate, you will provide leadership to school staff, service to students, conduct assessments, and participate in response planning for possible critical incidents/traumatic events. As part of the school's service delivery team, you will further the aims and objectives of NLSchools and support improved educational opportunities through program support.

Staff will engage a blended service delivery model encompassing both direct service and virtual services as required.

As an Educational Psychologist, your work will be guided by the application of the Standards for Educational Psychologists which are: comprehensive work plan; diversity; comprehensive assessment; collaboration and consultation; behavior and mental health; crisis intervention; and guidelines and policies and ethical responsibilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive Work Plan - After consultation with the administrative team of each assigned school, will develop one comprehensive work plan that outlines the psychological services they will provide throughout the school year.
  • Diversity - Understands the dimensions of human diversity and the possible influence they may have on child/adolescent development.
  • Comprehensive Assessment - Understands the assessment process and its implications for student learning. They adhere to the comprehensive assessment guidelines established by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, are able to conduct Level C assessments and have knowledge of the DSM-V.
  • Collaboration & Consultation - Collaborates and consults with families, educators and the school community and contributes to the school development plan.
  • Behaviour & Mental Health - Has extensive and demonstrated knowledge of child development, diverse learning needs and works with other staff and the school community to address issues related to student behaviour and mental health.
  • Crisis Intervention - Participates in the development and implementation of a response plan for possible crisis situations.
  • Guidelines & Policies - Understands department guidelines and policies as they pertain to student support services.
  • Ethical Responsibilities - Understands the ethical requirements in providing psychological services to the school community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Psychology (i.e Masters Degree in Educational Psychology, Masters Degree in Counseling/Counseling Psychology)
  • Bachelor of Education considered an asset to attain Level 7 teacher pay scale
  • A Valid NL Teaching Certificate
  • Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board
  • Travel is a requirement of this job. Use of a private vehicle will be required

Annual Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
