About the Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Service Excellence, the Director, Health Services, provides a strategic leadership role within Return to Work (RTW) as a senior leader of the Health Services team.

The Director of Health Services is a key leadership position responsible for the design, development, implementation, oversight and management of health services to injured workers aligned with the WCB's objectives of providing effective, timely, and quality care to enable safe and timely return to work following a workplace injury contributing to achievement of the organization's key performance targets.

The Director proactively monitors evolution of best practice and relevant emerging trends in health and vocational rehabilitation to achieve RTW and is responsible for delivery of enhanced quality and efficiency of health services provided to workplaces; development and successful implementation of strategic, cost effective and innovative health services solutions; as well as continuous monitoring, evaluation and improvement of health services resulting in improved rehabilitation and recovery outcomes for injured workers and high levels of satisfaction among injured workers and employers

Expected results for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for health services in alignment with WCB's mission and objectives.
  • Develop and execute programs aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for injured workers focused on recovery and staying connected to work.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the health services department, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and delivering on key operational indicator targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, other service providers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement quality assurance programs to monitor and improve the performance of health services, including holding external health consultants, and external contracted health care providers accountable to meet agreed upon service level agreements and recovery outcomes
  • Achieve all 2024 Health Services key performance indicator targets and key operating indicator targets.

Your Experience & Skills

  • A University degree in Business, Social Sciences, Health discipline, or a related field. A master's degree in any of these fields is an asset.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years progressive leadership experience in a relevant field with at least seven (7) years in progressive leadership/management roles.
  • Experience in developing, executing and evaluating health service programs, working with health care professionals, building inter and cross departmental, or external partnerships, negotiation, contracting, contract management, program evaluation, demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance in healthcare delivery, strategic leadership, and leading teams are essential for this position.
  • Certifications: Relevant professional certifications in healthcare management or administration are an asset.

We offer a competitive compensation package ranging from $115,719 - $144,651.
