Licensing Manager, Consumer Affairs - Fredericton
We are seeking an experienced professional to act in a leadership capacity and assist the Director of Consumer Affairs in the performance of all licensing duties and activities within the Division's mandate.
Your Focus
This position is responsible for effectively managing the licensing functions of the Consumer Affairs Division in accordance with the various Acts within Consumer Affairs, with the primary goal of consumer protection. Chief components of the position are: effective supervision, training and support of staff; improvement of systems and procedures; working in collaboration with licensing staff to consider whether terms or conditions should be attached to a licence and confirm whether or not an applicant is in good standing prior to processing a licence; and liaising with national and provincial jurisdictions, industry and stakeholder groups to ensure consistency of methods and compliance of intermediaries, including involvement in various regulator group committees.
You will assist the Director in the preparation of Licensing Hearing documentation and make recommendations to the Director on the issuance, suspension and revocation of licences.
What you bring:
- University degree in Business or similar discipline,
- A minimum of 5 years experience within a business program environment including 2-3 years of supervisory related experience,
- Fluency in both English and French (both oral and written),
- Organizational skills,
- Excellent leadership skills,
- Sound judgment and tact,
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills often requiring a degree of creativity,
- Communications skills - which would include the writing skills required for proper drafting and editing of rules, policies and other documents,
- Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and deadlines,
- An ability to work both independently and with others, and
- An ability and experience in making presentations.
Additional Strengths:
- Experience in interpreting the various Acts within Consumer Affairs is an asset
- Knowledge of the machinery and process of government and the legislation related to consumer affairs would be a definite asset
- Technical aptitude including proficiency in regulatory knowledge, licensing procedures and compliance standards.
