With over 250 company owned tractors, 75 owner operators, and 850 trailers we are servicing a solid base of repeat customers including Purolator, UPS, Crown Metal Packaging, Sobeys Foods, Loblaws, and Michelin Tire. The foundation of these relationships are based on our consistent service and flexibility to our customer's individual freight shipping needs. At AYR, customer service is our highest priority. We strive to meet all of our customer's transportation needs are taken care of. In order to maintain those standards, we establish partnerships with their customers and provide third party logistic solutions to guarantee that shipments are picked up and delivered on time.

Equipment

Operating late model equipment and a scheduled maintenance program help ensure we provide on-time freight delivery. Our fleet is comprised of both International ProStar and Freightliner Cascadia tractors that are conventional heavy, long distance haulers. The choice of equipment, common brands and models, means ease of parts supply inventory and if anything happens far from home there is a network of over a thousand dealers in North America who are just a phone call away. The strategic use of thin wall vans is specifically customer driven. Not only because of the extra inches of useable width on frequent freight loads can add up to thousands of dollars in savings, but also the loads are better protected by the smooth wall interior that prevents snags or tears which reduces the chance of freight damage. Our modern maintenance facility, comprised of 11 bays plus an on site body shop, employs a dedicated team of 35 mechanics and repair professionals who keep the drivers and equipment moving safely and efficiently every day of the year.

Locations

Our head office and maintenance facility are based in Woodstock NB, within minutes to the USA border, and our terminal and drop yard locations that are strategically positioned to serve all Canadian provinces, offer direct trans-border freight shipping services at competitive rates, as well as providing multiple locations for Professional Truck Drivers to work from. Our terminals for cross-docking, located in Brampton ON and Winnipeg MB, ensure we are maximizing time and space to increase our efficiencies. Our Canadian drop yards, in Moncton NB, Halifax NS, Dorval PQ, Regina SK, Calgary & Edmonton AB, and Richmond BC and our USA drop yards, in Chicago IL, Hanover PA, Houston TX, Laurens SC, and Minneapolis MN make the transition of freight move seamlessly across the country. These yards also help our long-haul truck drivers stay on the highways where they get plenty of miles.

Investing in People

Training at AYR Motor Express is key to continued success and growth. Following our 2-day orientation, new truck drivers to our industry are provided with a 12-week training program that will help them learn the AYR Motor Express way of managing the equipment, time, and provide them with the hands on training for border crossings and customer's yard procedures. Our in-house transport driving simulator provides skill sharpening training for shifting, poor road conditions, and difficult quick response situations. Other employees, whether in our offices, terminals or maintenance facility are encouraged and supported to continue training and development. Investing in new and current employees not only benefits them and our organization but also the customers by putting the highest qualified people at their service.
