Job Summary
The successful incumbent will report to the End User Devices Manager, this position:
- Identifies, analyses, and resolves computer support, hardware, and application software problems; and recommending/implementing solutions;
- Assess various end user requests and determining hardware/software requirements for desktop users;
- Providing desktop and network support to multiple departments (mangers and staff) across multiple geographically dispersed sites;
- Consult with end users and vendors to evaluate systematic issues with computer hardware/software and providing appropriate solutions to meet end user requirements via the use of remote support software;
- Install and test vendor supplied software programs and modifying default configurations to meet end user and organizational requirements;
- Educate and orient end users on the proper use of hardware and software; maintaining a wide range of desktop operating systems and various applications;
- Installing network and local printers on desktop computers with the use of remote support software;
- Assists in the development, deployment and maintenance of both local and wide area networks, deployment and use of the Internet, e-mail, and the other departmental and enterprise-wide applications;
- Consults with external vendors as necessary for resolution of issues;
- May participate in rotating on-call schedule to provide afterhours IT support;
- Other related duties as required.
Job Demands
By applying for this position, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to): Occasionally lifts objects up to 25 lbs, and occasional standing, walking, driving, bending, kneeling and stretching may be required. Constantly performs fine finger/precision work while using a computer and working with network infrastructure. Constantly requires visual concentration when designing, configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure. Requires availability in a network on-call rotation to support the Eastern Health network infrastructure and connectivity.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized university with a Computer Science degree, a Commerce or Business degree supplemented by a diploma in Information Technology/Informatics (minimum one year/900 hours duration), or graduation from a recognized Technical College with a minimum three-year Computer Studies Diploma.
A minimum of three years of experience within the last five working in an IT health care environment is required.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards relevant to EMS technology and patient data management.
Strong technical proficiency in relevant software and communication technologies.
Familiarity with emergency medical services operations, protocols, and terminology.
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills for user training and support.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
A valid Newfoundland & Labrador class IV Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
