This role will involve working closely with the PLEIS legal team, a Communications Project Manager (who will work on the same projects), and some external stakeholders. • Create and execute a social media plan for:
    • Love Shouldn't Hurt
    • Silent Witness NB
    • Safer Places NB
    • The "It's Your Business" DIPV in the Workplace Toolkit

  • Track results and help compile data for reports to funders;
  • Undertake occasional single-day travel to locations around New Brunswick to meet with community partners and participate in events;
  • Complete communications tasks and projects for PLEIS as a whole, depending on the successful candidate's areas of skill;
  • Contribute to the general good functioning of the GBV projects and PLEIS as a whole; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in communications or marketing, and/or a post-secondary degree in one of those areas;
  • At least 2-3 of the following skills:
    • Social media management
    • Graphic design

    • Writing for communications purposes
    • Communications strategy and planning;
  • Comfort with standard MS Office tools and commonly used office technology;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and also as a responsible and collaborative team member; and
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other organizations, people, and groups.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

These assets are preferred but not necessary:

  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Familiarity with gender-based violence, social services, or law in New Brunswick
  • Valid NB driver's licence (for occasional in-province travel)

The working environment

PLEIS-NB is committed to maintaining an equitable, transparent, and respectful working environment for all of our staff. We value both accountability and flexibility in all of our working arrangements. Hybrid work is available wherever it is compatible with a person's tasks; the majority of our staff work at least one day per week from home. Our office tends to be casual, friendly, and engaged. Like at many non-profits, everyone pitches in on administrative work or special projects from time to time.

The majority of our staff are fluently bilingual. Internally, we communicate in English.

We encourage applications from members of groups that have historical and current barriers to equity.

All of our permanent and long-term staff earn above the living wage for Fredericton. Staff have regular 1-on-1 meetings with their supervisor, to answer questions, receive support and exchange feedback. This position reports to the Executive Director.

How To Apply

Please send a cover letter and resume to [email protected], with the subject line "Communications Officer application: [your name]". The deadline is Tuesday July 16.
