Community Health Registered Nurse II - Community Health
Deer Lake, NL

Duties: Western Health is seeking a self-motivated, goal-oriented and engaging nurse to join the Community Health Leadership Team. The successful individual will be expected to work with the Community Health Management team in the development of policies, procedures, practice standards and guidelines to support Community Health Nursing practice. Areas of practice may include but is not limited to maternal, child and family health, communicable disease control, environmental public health, public health emergency management, health promotion and protection. The Community Health Nurse II will support improving the health of individuals in the western region through public health practice that is based on the principles of social justice, attention to human rights and equity, evidence informed policy and practice, and addressing the underlying determinants of health.

The successful individual will support the Community Health management team in matters related to nursing standards/scope of practice, training requirements, resource requirements, and program planning and evaluation. This may include assisting the Community Health Manager in performance appraisal of front line staff based on their clinical and program involvement with individual nurses, conducting audits, collection and analysis of data related to clinical indicators, benchmarks and clinical efficiencies, etc. They will also provide direct support to front line community health staff including orientation, professional development, clinical consultation and programming support.

Required Qualifications: Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador with a minimum of five years' experience in Community Health nursing (Public Health focus) are required. The successful applicant must demonstrate experience working independently with limited supervision, the ability to develop and implement community health nursing programs, the ability to participate in research activities and strong oral and written communication skills. Certification in community health nursing would be an asset. A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

Hours of Work: 75 Hours per pay period

0830-1630 Hours; Monday to Friday. Weekends and evenings may be required.
Salary: $81,496.09 to $100,728.23 per Annum
