Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Laundry and Linen Services within the Health Services Division as a Power Engineer.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Operates, maintains, analyses, calibrates and troubleshoots boiler and auxiliary equipment such as: steam and condensate distribution. domestic and process hot water systems, and fuel delivery and chemical distribution systems.
  • Monitors and assesses environmental data to calculate and adjust daily steam/fuel ratios, orders various fuels for building systems; maintains and repairs fuel delivery system.
  • Writes reports and maintains detailed logs as per regulations.
  • Analyzes and maintains water treatment and distribution systems.
  • Expected to record and maintain all daily work performed on site.
  • Overhauls and repairs boilers.
  • Co-ordinates safe shutdown and startup of boiler system.
  • Monitors automatic controls within power plants
  • Provides preventive maintenance and repairs on building, plant, and operation equipment as required.
  • Operates, maintains, isolates and repairs various plant equipment.
  • Maintains and operates emergency generator system, where required
  • Monitors and maintains various building systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC).
  • Maintains grounds such as mowing grass, snow removal; maintains grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers where required.
  • Performs minor repairs within code requirements and regulations such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
  • Receives supplies where required.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Show others how to perform tasks or duties as a part of departmental orientation.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a 4th class power engineer's license in accordance with the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate the following asset qualifications:

  • Familiarized with software utilized to manage maintenance word orders.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Rotating days, Evenings, Nights, Weekend, and Statutory Holidays. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.
