If you love working with people out in the community and working in a team-oriented environment, have experience in the communications, public relations, and/or journalism field, this full-time permanent position might be the perfect fit for you.
On the communications side, you will become responsible for leading the Municipality's public relations and marketing efforts, providing advice and direction in this critical area of responsibility, and in developing communication vehicles to help the Municipality communicate better with our residents, our corporate clients, and potential new residents/visitors.
On the special initiatives side, you will become responsible for working with community groups in the non-sporting community who wish to advance causes and initiatives that are important to the future development of MODG and that fit with the goals and objectives outlined in the Municipality's strategic plan. You will also take on the responsibility for the Municipality's equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility committee, and help build on our relationship with our African Nova Scotian community and with First Nations.
A degree in public relations, marketing, journalism plus a minimum of 3-5 years experience is preferred. A full job description is available here or by contacting the undersigned. The salary scale for this position is $78,530 - $98,163. Placement on the scale will be commensurate with your level of education and experience. A small relocation incentive may be offered. Although some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time, the Municipality does offer a 4 Day Work Week, which means most of your weekends will be 3 days.
