Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
The Radio Communications Branch is responsible for the provision of Radio Communications and other advanced technological services for all government departments and agencies. The Branch provides contract management of the New Brunswick Trunked Mobile Radio (NBTMR) system, the province's P25 Digital Public Safety Grade Radio System. The NBTMR provides mission critical services to various Provincial, Federal, and Municipal stakeholders.
What you will do
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join the Radio Communications Branch in the Fredericton area.
Reporting to the Client Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities:
- installing and maintaining complex province-wide mission critical mobile radio systems;
- maintaining and repairing integrated Radio Communications System (IRCS) equipment, VHF/UHF mobile and base station radios, radio tower repeaters, antenna systems, power supplies, alarm equipment;
- other related mobile radio electronic equipment at an advanced level, in the Fredericton and surrounding areas.
Work environment:
- Office location: Fredericton Area.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday.
- Outside normal work hours, you will be required to report to the Fredericton Region Radio Shop within a one-hour response time due to the various service contracts with our clients.
- We promote a scent-reduced environment.
- Frequent travel within the province will be required.
- Operational requirements may also require working on weekends, and/or variable hours.
- The successful candidate will also be part of the Branch's emergency response team which is mobilized during times of emergencies and extreme weather events.

Essential Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED, and the successful completion of an approved two (2) year course in electronic technology.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience related to testing, installation, maintenance, and repair of Mobile and Tower Repeater radio receivers/transmitters, (low/ medium/high) complexity analog and digital microwave radio links, multiplexing systems and other site related equipment.
- You will be required to undergo a Criminal Background Check.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

SALARY:
Radio Technician III: $28.03 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
