Salary Range: $66,454 to $80,851 per annum

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Counselling Services, the Counsellor is responsible for providing a broad range of personal counselling services to university students, both individually and in groups. Areas of counselling include, but are not limited to, adjustment and developmental issues, psychological issues such as anxiety and depression, eating disorders, gender and diversity issues, and stress management. Counsellors also provide case management support by connecting students with community resources as needed. Additional responsibilities include triage assessments, crisis management, clinical supervision of Master's-level counselling interns, and engaging in case consultation with other members of the campus community. In addition, the counsellor develops and delivers psycho-educational workshops and participates in the training and supervision of student staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

You possess a Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling or a related field, and a minimum of 18 months of related post-secondary graduate work experience. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the relevant professional regulatory body such as the Nova Scotia Board of Psychologists (NSBEP), Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) or the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team are essential. Previous counselling experience in a post-secondary environment and experience in using Electronic Medical Records are assets for this role.
