Halifax Water is hiring for the job of Information Services Technician Level III. This is a full-time, term opportunity in the Corporate Services Department for a period of approximately 2 years.

As an Information Services Technician Level III, you will:

  • Be responsible for the provision of effective day-to-day operations, maintenance and support of Halifax Water's technical hardware, software and communication systems.
  • Perform and provide support to other IS Support Technicians (Level I and II) as required due to workload or escalation.

To do this job, you need to have:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology,
  • Five years of experience relating to information technology support and communication
  • Hands on experience with the following hardware/software:
    • Microsoft desktop and server operating systems,
    • Cloud computing platforms and services,
    • Network security and firewalls,
    • Hyperconverged infrastructure and virtualization technologies
    • Data communication protocols,
    • Email filtering and security,
    • IT auditing / monitoring software,
    • Connection to user applications and systems (GIS and SCADA would be an asset)
  • ITIL Certification
  • Certification in one of the following:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
    • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization or Microsoft Azure Administrator
    • Equivalent certifications or experience may be considered
  • A valid NS driver's license and access to reliable transportation
