JOB PURPOSE
The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for acquiring, preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recognized post-secondary Pharmacy Assistant training program and Pharmacy Assistant training or experience within the past 24 months or equivalent.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Good work record.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for:
- Recording and updating medication orders
- Preparing and labelling pharmaceutical products including sterile and oncology admixtures
- Packaging drugs for dispensing and preparing bulk solutions and other compounds
- Delivering drugs to patient care areas
- Controlling and maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
- Ordering and receiving pharmaceutical products and supplies
