Job Summary
The Development and Rehabilitation Division is an Ambulatory Care/Provincial Pediatric Service with both a provincial and tertiary care mandate, with programs expanding into the schools and the community. This Physiotherapy position is located in the Central Outreach Site of Grand Falls-Windsor and is supported by other services located at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John's. The Centre has a well-equipped department located at the Community Health Building, Queensway, Grand Falls-Windsor. The incumbent may assist in Gander and is responsible for the Western Region via telehealth. Occasional overnight travel is an expectation.

The Clinical Physiotherapist provides assessment and treatment to children with physical and developmental disabilities living in the Central Region. He/she will be responsible for patient assessment, design and implementation of treatment programs as well as home and school visits. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and communicate effectively. The Physiotherapist's caseload will include children and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, musculoskeletal and developmental disabilities. He/she will be required to travel weekly within the region and will also be involved in travelling clinics. Also the position would service Corner Brook via virtual health as well as occasional overnight travel.

This position reports to the Division Manager of the Children and Women's Health Program, of Eastern Health. Clinical mentorship is available from the Physiotherapist II in the Outreach program based in the Central Region, and the Physiotherapist III for the program based at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John's. This position maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Physiotherapy for professional integrity and practice issues.

Job Demands

Occasionally lifts or moves objects between 10 - 37 lbs.
Regularly requires a combination of sitting, standing and walking.
Regularly required to bend, kneel, stretch and physically lifting, pushing, pulling and/or manoeuvring patient/clients with medium force.
Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities in ICU with critically ill patients and dealing with clients with complex medical conditions.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapist (NLCP) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.
Ability to direct, supervise and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
