We are recruiting one co-op engineering (civil) student to work directly with the Division Engineer. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a P. Eng who also went through the co-op program. The co-op will work closely with Engineering, Sales, Production, and Quality Control staff.
Primary responsibilities will be project estimating, basic structural engineering of concrete products, quality control and quality assurance. Other duties will be review of project drawings, taking and testing of concrete samples, inventory control including shipping and receiving of product and material, inspecting loads, estimating quantities and materials, and working with a team to troubleshoot and resolve problems related to production, quality, and equipment. We are able to accommodate a four month work term.
- Student of a post-secondary program in engineering, preferably civil.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, both theoretical and practical.
- Basic working knowledge of S-Frame is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Excel. Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and how to interpret them and do quantity take offs.
- Have a strong background in general science and engineering principles and the ability to apply them to practical solutions.
- Desire to work in a team environment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good organizational skills.
- Independent self-starter with the ability to multitask projects big and small.
- Very safety conscious - must have Class 1, CSA approved safety shoes.
- Must have reliable transportation - we are not located on a bus route.
