The Research Office at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant.

Classification: Full-time, MPA Level 1 Position
Starting Salary: $46,495 per annum (Step Progression $46,495 to $56,569)

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Research (AVPR), this position works in a highly confidential, deadline-driven environment and assists the MSVU Research Office (RESO) in supporting faculty to pursue and promote research. This includes supporting the work of the AVPR, the Research Grants Coordinator and the Research Ethics Coordinator. The position facilitates internal and external communications and scheduling on behalf of the AVPR. This position is responsible for a high level of efficiency and communication. The applicant will be expected to liaise with all members of the Research Office and advance the goals of the Strategic Research Plan in a number of important ways including, but not limited to, the following: Administration, Communications, Document Management, and Events Coordination.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a 2-year community college diploma in office administration or a related area and a minimum of 2-years' related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You have superior interpersonal and communications skills. You are a motivated team player and independent thinker, with excellent writing skills and an ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are comfortable managing multiple requests, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with faculty and staff to develop solutions. You are committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and committed to Truth and Reconciliation. You are also committed to, continuous process improvement, are results-oriented, and always anticipate and plan accordingly. You will have experience with event planning. Experience in a Post-Secondary research environment would be considered an asset as is having a degree in a related field. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), social media platforms, website platforms such as WordPress, and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
