WHO WE ARE

The Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour is responsible for establishing a new Accessibility Office. The Accessibility Office is responsible for raising awareness and building capacity around accessibility, developing accessibility standards in collaboration with an advisory body and standard development committees, and supporting the development of accessibility plans by providing guided templates and training. The Accessibility Office will act as a central government mechanism to ensure that the concerns of persons with disabilities are advanced and considered by government.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

We are seeking two individuals to join the Policy Research and Labour Market Analysis branch as Policy Analysts. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a major legislative initiative and contribute to an "all-of-government approach." You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the implementation of new provincial accessibility legislation that aims to prevent, identify, and eliminate barriers to participation and opportunity for all New Brunswickers.
  • Work closely with the PETL policy team on strategic planning, establishing an interdepartmental committee and developing guidelines for government implementation plans.
  • Conducting extensive research and analysis on the topic of accessibility.
  • Preparing briefing and consultation materials.
  • Supporting the planning of and preparation for consultations.
  • Supporting the development of reports.
  • Any other duties assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree.
  • Several years experience in research and policy in broad, cross-cutting humanitarian and/or socio-economic issues, including lived experience with navigating accessibility challenges.
  • Experience in project management, planning and facilitating public consultations and preparation of reports; and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

One position requires written and spoken competence in English and French. The other will require written and spoken competence in English only. Please state your language capability.

WAGE

Pay-band 4: from $2,140 to $2,993 bi-weekly
Pay-band 5: from $2,450 to 3,422 bi-weekly
Pay-band 6: from $2,846 to 3,786 bi-weekly
Pay-band 7: from $3,412 to 4,128 bi-weekly
