JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Ophthalmology Division Head and the designated medical director, the ophthalmologist focuses on the study and treatment of eye diseases. The ophthalmologist works in various clinical contexts to provide a wide range of medical care to patients with eye problems. Duties include screening, evaluation, medical and surgical treatments and follow-up.

The ophthalmologist also collaborates with other health care professionals in the delivery of diverse and comprehensive services to patients and their loved ones.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree from a recognized medical school and residency leading to obtaining a licence in ophthalmology;
  • A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criteria;
  • Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);

OR

  • Recognized certification in ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
  • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
  • Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society;
  • Privileges with the Network;
  • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
  • Ability to remain calm;

  1. The salary for this position is fee-for-service.
  2. Moving expenses allowance.
  3. Possibility of a recruitment incentive depending on eligibility, as determined by the Department of Health (return of service required).
