Our Team:

Totten Mine is located in Worthington Ontario and currently has a highly motivated group of employees who are dedicated to safe production. We continuously strive to be a cost effective producer developing a strong future for both the mine and its workers.

We are currently seeking a Superintendent II, Process – Logistics and fixed plant maintenance to join our Totten Mine Operations in Sudbury, Ontario. You will lead a team of Logistics and Industrial Maintenance supervisors and for the mine, supporting the execution of Maintenance work on all fixed assets – shaft, head frame, muck circuit, water treatment, fill plants. Process accountabilities require you to monitor, identify and implement opportunities to reduce variation in control processes and systems (Technical, Social, and Commercial) within your area of accountability. Also identify common causes of variation to be corrected in collaboration with area Manager and Supervisors. You will work collaboratively with other Process Superintendents, Managers and Supervisors within the functional and cross functional areas of the operation, to address supplier and customer system deficiencies and achieve capital, operating and maintenance project goals.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Audit and analyze systems within the area(s) of accountability to achieve the following outputs:
    • Zero harm to employees, the business, the environment and the community,
    • Achieve/exceed production quality and quantity targets while maximizing economic resource recovery.
    • Achieve total product and unit cost, and capital expenditure targets.
  • Audit and analyze trends in safety (Against the HomeSafe model), maintenance, cost and quality, as well as the consumption of resources. Develop and implement actions to address common cause variances or to take advantage of opportunities as they arise (with a focus on continuous improvement), while balancing the allocation of resources, meeting quantity and quality output requirements for the internal and/or external "Customers".
  • Leads and ensures HomeSafe behaviors are exhibited by team members. Coach members on consistently achieving Managing Risk to go HomeSafe and take corrective action when necessary to address noncompliance.
  • Work with the HSE Committee to develop actions to improve safety, health and environmental performance.
  • Develop weekly and monthly maintenance schedules (including associated planned packages) and update schedules as required. Escalate when schedules will not be achieved.
  • Monitor area maintenance performance, and asset integrity, to confirm that processes are in place to maintain the plant and equipment, sustain/build capability, and to achieve the targets outlined in the Execution plan.
  • Expand the capability of the area(s) of accountability, to achieve continuous improvement, while balancing the allocation of resources, meeting quantity and quality output requirements for the internal and/or external "Customers". Verifying compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLA) and required standards.
  • Analyzes in-control Maintenance KPIs and identifies common causes of variation and develops action plans to make the necessary changes to correct the common cause - Working closely with reliability and Integrated planning superintendents.
  • Provide performance feedback to team members and coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, and take corrective action as required.
  • Contributes to the Succession Planning processes. Advises the Manager on improving the capability of the L1 team to meet future needs through selection and development.
  • Contributes to the implementation of new systems/processes and provides guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
  • Manage plant activities on the off shifts as required in the on-call scheduling.

About You

Education:

  • You possess a post-secondary education or equal work experience of at minimum 8 Years of experience

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with mine shaft and hositing plant execution and industrial maintenance is an asset

Skills:

  • Must have strong organization and time leadership skills.
  • High initiative and can self-direct to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
