(Full-Time, 3-Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Senior Development Officer, Medicine, the successful candidate's responsibilities include: identifying, evaluating, cultivating, and soliciting appropriate prospective donors; drafting donor correspondence, gift agreements, briefing notes, basic proposals, and other written materials as needed; developing and successfully achieving fundraising goals; assisting in the planning and execution of an annual fundraising plan; working with the alumni engagement and stewardship team to enhance the relationship between donors and the University; providing status reports; and performing other related duties as required. As a fundraising professional, the successful candidate will assist in meeting the fundraising goals of the Faculty of Medicine. They will develop relationships between the Faculty and its alumni, community members, and corporations while implementing, facilitating, and managing fundraising strategies and initiatives for various areas of the Faculty. They will maintain a portfolio of active donors, and actively cultivate and solicit those donors with giving capacity, with an emphasis on timely and strategic actions in order to amplify donations for Memorial University. Willingness and flexibility to work some non- traditional hours and ability to travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in an advancement-related field, business development, sales and/or sponsorship, preferably in fundraising in the education or not-for-profit sector; graduation from a four-year college or university; or any equivalent combination of experience. Persuasive and productive communication, diplomacy, and negotiation skills that allow success both within the campus environment and externally, as well as the ability to build and maintain productive donor relationships, manage multiple projects from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines, and work both independently and within a team are required. The successful candidate should have exemplary judgement, written and oral communication skills, and be goal-focused with the ability to achieve fundraising targets. Demonstrated financial experience is an asset as is knowledge of Memorial University and its unique mandate and responsibilities to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
