Position Overview:
Are you looking to be part of a growing and developing team in an organization that values its people, customers, work, and supply chain? If so, APEX is currently accepting applications for a Mechanical Technician in its Product Development and Automation Group.
This is a full-time, permanent role reporting to the Group Manager or designate. The primary duties of this position are to assemble equipment, working work with fasteners or mechanical components for quality assurance, troubleshooting, safety compliance, documentation, and maintenance to ensure accurate and efficient assembly of our high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately assemble various types of machinery and equipment according to engineering drawing, specification, and assembly instructions.
- Work with fasteners and mechanical components to ensure secure and precise assembly.
- Inspect and test assembled equipment to ensure it meets quality standards and operational requirements.
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues during the assembly process, using problem-solving skills and technical knowledge.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, parts used, and any modifications made.
- Work closely with engineers, quality control, and other team members to improve assembly processes and product quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or as a millwright, particularly with equipment that requires fasteners.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and fastener applications.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring devices.
- Ability to work both individually and within a team environment with a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to stick to tasks that may be repetitive in nature.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform some heavy lifting or other physically demanding tasks, as required.
- High level of attention to detail for assembling complex machinery.
- Ability to follow verbal or written instructions and work under little or no supervision.
Assets:
- Technical School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification in a mechanical trade or millwright.
- Knowledge and experience with bearings and bearing fits, water pumps, and spraying applications, pneumatic actuators, valves, vacuum part handling, conveyors, and belt tracking.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
