We are looking for self-motivated, experienced Health & Safety Coordinator for our Dieppe location. If you are our ideal candidate, you live and breathe the role that safety and wellness play in a manufacturing and distribution environment. You are proud of your track record in initiating and managing safety initiatives. You get excited about the thought of 80% of your day "hands on" in our production and distribution environment working with our front-line Operations supervisors and employees. You will be reporting to the Director of Health and Safety.

Responsibilities

The Health & Safety Coordinator is accountable for safety training, accident prevention, inspections and audits, incident investigation and reporting. This role will collaborate with production management personnel on best practices for safe production.

  • Training Program Development: Develop, update, and customize safety training programs to meet the specific needs of the organization. Ensure that training materials and content are up to date with the latest regulations and industry standards.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of safety training programs. Make necessary adjustments based on feedback and results.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Stay current with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards. Ensure that the organization complies with all applicable safety laws.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead or assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, or near misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety Policies: Collaborate with the safety team to develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures. Ensure these are communicated effectively to all employees.
  • Reporting: Maintain detailed records of training activities, participation, and completion. Generate regular reports on training progress and areas that may require additional attention.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, drills, and exercises to prepare employees for various workplace emergencies.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a safety-conscious culture within the organization by fostering awareness, involvement, and commitment to safety among all employees.
  • All other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Education, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications or training qualifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in safety training and program development, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and other relevant authorities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex safety concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using various training tools and software for curriculum development and delivery.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety concerns.
  • Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High commitment to safety and a passion for promoting a culture of safety.
  • 3 years or more of experience in Manufacturing Facilities/Production based environment is an asset
  • Previous safety coordination experience is an asset
  • Ability to speak and write in both official languages is a strong asset
