Reporting directly to the Manager, Group Underwriting, the Senior Group Underwriter is responsible for the accurate pricing of groups, primarily those with over 100 lives. This includes submissions, renewals, and requests for options, as well as providing support for complex group/case inquiries. The role involves maintaining profitability through pricing standards and close collaboration with the group insurance sales team to offer competitive proposals. The underwriter also negotiates with reinsurers and serves as a resource for decision support on complex cases.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate pricing for group renewals and submissions.
  • Analyze and calculate pricing methodologies for renewals.
  • Handle pricing inquiries and requests for options, ensuring client needs are met.
  • Coordinate work between departments for submission packages.
  • Negotiate terms with reinsurers as necessary.
  • Provide decision support and training to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of pricing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Specialized knowledge in group pricing and insurance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client focus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in group insurance pricing.
