McCain Foods (Canada) is currently looking for an experienced tradesperson and/or an individual with a mechanical/electrical/technical and fabrication background to join our Reliability Team. The Reliability Technician works to eliminate losses by following a daily process which is data driven and focused on root cause elimination. This role is accountable to improve the reliability of the systems through ownership in failure mode analysis, breakdown elimination, Condition Based Maintenance program, planning and scheduling. This position leverages the process discipline of continuous improvement tools. This role will work closely with the MDI x Ai teams to develop, improve, and maintain digitally enabled tools for improving reliability. The successful applicant must pose an above level of comfort with digital systems and have the ability to adopt new digital tools quickly.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager
  • Use technology and tools to predict machine failures and prevent equipment downtime events.
  • Builds capability of the production operators and maintenance technicians to understand their equipment at component level.
  • Daily reporting of breakdowns as well as initiation and execution of breakdown elimination.
  • Contribute to development and execution of the plan for the day in conjunction with (McCain Driving Impact) MDI and (Daily Direction Setting) DDS processes.
  • Provide data input for weekly tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data-backlog, MTTR, PM completion (indicators of Health of P&S system).
  • Identifies and addresses safety risks related to maintenance activities (standard and non-standard) and prioritizing safety risks identified through DH, includes maintenance work completed during planned stops.
  • Leads by example and collaborates with the maintenance leadership team to build a safety and performance-oriented culture of engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with Production, Maintenance peers, McCain contractors and suppliers.
  • Champion of Change: accepting and promotes benefits of change.
  • Ability to acquire necessary training (vibration and other predictive tools) and further defined qualifications and responsibilities.
  • Additional duties as required.
  • Read and understand P&ID, M&I, Electrical, Mechanical technical documents and drawings and be able to identify inaccuracies in the documents

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Licensed mechanical/electrical trade and/or mechanical background with fabrication skills.
  • Additional trades experience would be an asset.
  • Strong consumer electronics skills
  • A self-motivated individual having above average organizational skills and attention-to detail, with a proven record of accomplishment.
  • Ability to lead others effectively.
  • Effective Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.
  • Prior experience working within SAP is a strong asset.

Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will be held as necessary and those selected for interview are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above.
