Social Worker III, Temporary Full-Time (Approximately 12 Months with possible extension)Mental Health & Addictions, James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander

Definition of Work:
The Mental Health and Addictions Social Worker is a highly specialized clinical position that provides intensive therapeutic mental health and concurrent counselling and supportive services to individuals and /or family members. The successful candidate will provide intensive therapeutic assessment and treatment to restore and /or enhance the psychological functioning of the client population. The Social Worker III is responsible to provide Doorways services regularly according to the rotating Doorways schedule. The position also provides health promotion and prevention services and community crisis intervention services when required. The Mental Health and Addictions Social Worker is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. This position reports to the Regional Manager of Mental Health and Addictions Services. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Duties:
* Functions with a high level of autonomy while functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
* Carries out comprehensive assessment, treatment, counselling , and follow- up services in the context of an integrated mental health and addictions team process.
* Liaises with other professionals and community groups regarding referrals, treatment planning, follow up services, and programming.
* Utilizes Best Practice Standards and methods in the areas of mental health and concurrent disorders.
* Implements individual, family, and group interventions based on Best Practices
* Provides education and preventative services based on a population health approach.
* Carries out research designed to further clinical practice and service delivery
* Conducts community crisis response in the region as deemed necessary
* Provides single session therapy using a broad range of single session, brief intervention, and postmodern theoretical frameworks and conducts professional analysis of complex situations.

Required Qualifications:
* Masters Degree in Social Work with a clinical specialization.
* Current registration with NLASW.
* 2 years current experience, within last 5 years, in a mental health and addictions setting.
* Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of independence while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated experience working with individuals, families and groups.
* Demonstrated knowledge of program, services, and community resources
* Demonstrated effective skills in interpersonal relationships, interdisciplinary team collaboration, leadership, communication, advocacy, networking, time management, case management and client support.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and considerable experience utilizing Best Practice Standards and methods in the areas of mental health and concurrent disorders including, assessment, counselling, research and evaluation.
* Demonstrated strong knowledge of psychiatric interventions and the DSM-5
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills using a range of technologies.
* Satisfactory Child, Youth and Family Services Records Check.
* Use of a private vehicle and valid driver license are a condition of employment
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
* Satisfactory Record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly (shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-43 ($42.69-$50.35)
